Netnod is a small, high-tech firm based in Sweden which provides services at the core of the Internet, such as Internet Exchange services, data transport, DNS services, and time and frequency services. Netnod is at the forefront of secure and robust services.
Netnod is the formal time and frequency distributor in Sweden commissioned by the Swedish Post- and Telecommunications authority. As part of that commission, Netnod is developing and improving methods for distributing and measuring time.
During normal operation, atomic clocks, with their support functions, are in constant contact with other atomic clocks and their support functions. This is to ensure stable operation of the network of atomic clocks used for keeping and distributing time. However, individual clock nodes might become disconnected from the rest of the network, due to crisis, disaster, or other causes. This thesis involves designing the methodology for measuring the stability of clock nodes operating in isolation.
